“In much of my work the specimens are akin to a precious paint, a paint that not only delivers diversity and beauty but also holds within itself a natural emotional value and meaning from our response to the species."
My techniques combine traditional methods of preservation and taxidermy with modern tools and technology to create beautiful pieces of artwork that can equally inspire emotion and wonder. Given the variation in every specimen each piece is unique and is hand crafted by me in my studio or the lab.

Weathervein
Since dialogue began the weather has invaded our emotions, directly affecting them and flooding the language we use for them. Whether it is cloudy, rainy, stormy or sunny we could be looking upwards or inwards.

Awe
Despite our best efforts to control and shield ourselves from the effects of our natural surroundings it’s influence, even through something as seemingly innocuous as the weather, seems to be intrinsic to our being.

The Puzzle
This piece was created at a time in my life when much of my work was exploring the juxtoposition of the fragilty and beauty of life as I tried to make sense of much that was going on in mine.

BioHazard
At times through lockdown I have felt like I am locking myself away from the threat that nature poses to my family, at other times it is nature that seems to have been given a break from us.

Connections
Much of my work is about challenging our natural responses to situations, species and people who may seem somehow different to us. For me (and many others) spiders like these are challenging provoking feelings of fear and even disgust.

Confession

Treachery of Colours
In 1929 Rene Magritte painted a pipe, one for smoking (not sewage!), and under wrote the words "Ceci n'est pas une pipeot” French for "This is not a pipe".

Something Blue
I think as long as the threads that bind us together remain pure, Something Blue, that they become supporting, uplifting and freeing rather than constricting, that the journey we are on is best faced with others that we trust, however long life lasts.

Terribly Beautiful

Gimmick
In this digital maelstrom, have we, as humans, become ensnared, losing ourselves in the virtual when the true masterpiece is nature itself?
